Search for whole page images online, resize to desired scale and print. As an example, for 1/35: approx. 11mm x 23mm. Cut out with blade or scissor.
Gently sand back side of paper with sandpaper to thin edge. Frayed edges can be made here too.
Briefly soak in water to make paper easily workable.
Paint back side of paper with acrylic medium or white glue. This will hold the shape after the next step, and will fix to the ground.
Work into position on
scene with a damp brush. Some ink was rubbed off on this example, but this can
be worked with.
Allow to dry and then
dust with light coloured pigment to give the look of aged paper and take any
shine off.
Finally, speckle paper
with various dust and grime coloured thinned enamel or oil paints to create
stains and variation.
