Again painted and carbon decaled.

That felt good, first time I’ve airbrushed in over 4 months. All the interior of the LaFerrari given their black primer coat. Only a small part done today but none the less good to get back into it.
Again painted and carbon decaled.
I decided to put the front and rear sections on the chassis. Still a lot to do on these parts as well clear coating the roof of the main tub section
The black section at the top of the front clam shell was a pain to get right.
Now for the carbon decaling.
The Tamiya carbon kit comes with decals for the mirrors but only the main stock. I decided to carbon fibre all of the mirrors using carbon decal sheets from Scale Motorsport.
Whilst the carbon sheets were out, I decided to carbon decal the upper black area on the front clam. This took several attempts to get right.
The upper portions of the doors were carbon decaled to match the main roof section.
Now this might be a step too far, but I personally haven’t seen this done, so I carbon decaled the front lights.
Today I’ve been working on the rear panel of the LaFerrari. Although the Zero Paints 2K Clear Coat gives a superb finish, I colour sanded and compound polished all the surfaces. It was then given a couple of coats of a pure Carnauba Wax.
I’ll post up pics later when all the parts of the rear panel are assembled.
I’ll post up pics later when all the parts of the rear panel are assembled.
This is Zero Paints 2K Diamond Finish straight out the airbrush. It’s shiney however you can the reflection of the light about isn’t well defined.
So first off using 4000 grade micromesh and soapy water I gave the roof section a couple of passes. You can see the slight orange peel effect which I’m trying to smooth out. Now sometimes no amount of sanding will get rid of “orange peel” so at this stage be really careful.
This shows all the orange peel is gone, now for the other grades of micromesh.
I then worked through micromesh grades from 6000 - 8000 - 12000. This is the finish I achieved using this method.
Next up I worked through Zero Paints Polishing Compounds, and finally I gave it a coat of Zero’s true Carnauba Wax. As you can now see the light panel above the desk is better defined. Now for the rest of the car. Oh joy lol.
When I had the carbon decal film out I decided to carbon fibre the headlight units. These were then clear coated using 2K Diamond Finish. The clear parts were then fitted.
These were then fitted to the car.
The clear parts.
The clear parts were then fitted, these should be fitted from the rear, however I find to get a better fit, I trim off one of the fit tabs on the side and fit it from above.
The front window and rear engine cover masked with the masking set supplied with the kit. Just make sure the edges are thoroughly pressed down. I go round the edges of the mask with a cotton bud.
I then masked off the front of the windscreen and rear window so no black paint could seep onto it. I then painted the black areas with Tamiya Semi Gloss Black. The trick here is to dust the black coats on, if you go on too thick, the paint is liable to seep through the mask.
With the masks removed.
And the side trim attached
The rear engine cover completed. I applied the Plamoz Real Metal Ferrari decal after this pic was taken.
The windscreen fitted along with the windscreen wiper.
Both wing mirrors received the carbon decal treatment and clear coated with Zero Paints 2K Diamond Finish Clear Coat.
And fitted to the car
The front and rear wheels fitted
